How to Post
First things first, what kind of RPer are you?
Depending on what you are, there are many different kinds of Role Players out there. I know how much everyone loves rules, so here are some more to keep in mind.
1] If there is a post where someone could be considered an Advanced or Master RPer, PLEASE don't post if you are a "beginner". I can't explain how frustrating it is when you put so much time, effort, and detail to a post, only to get a reply from someone who types 5 sentences. If you are not willing to put the same or more effort into an Advanced/Master post, don't reply to one, please stay out of them and make your own topic somewhere else, or maybe at the same place, but not in their topic.
2] Same goes for Advanced/Master RPers, if you post into a topic of a beginner RPer, and you get frustrated that they're not putting detail into their posts, DON'T EXPECT IT, and don't complain. You got yourself into it, and now you have to play it through.
3] If you reply to someone's post, don't post a reply and then NEVER come back to it. Keep track of where your characters are, and don't abandon anyone! If you reply to a post, make sure it is something that you think will be fun and beneficial, don't just post to post. Keeping track of your posts is important, and there is a thread in the forum that is JUST FOR THAT. Don't lose yourself and your characters, and also, post here in "Your Threads" so other people know where you are as well, they might want to find you to role play with you!
4] If you create a thread and no one replies to it, don't bump it a million times to get everyone's attention, it'll only make everyone not want to post in your thread more. If you don't like not knowing whether you'll get a reply, you can try and post here in the "Requests Forum" first, and see if anyone else likes your idea and would like to role play with you. That way, you'll know if your thread is a good idea or not based on how many people go for it. If no one likes the idea, try and think of something else, it's that simple. Don't risk writing all of the words and putting in the effort into something that is just going to get passed up.
Starting Your Thread
When starting your journey with your first post, you want to make sure people know a few key important things.
Even if you are a Beginner Role Player, there are tons and tons of ways to improve, and to add more detail into your posts so you can maybe attract players you are compatible with, and also provide just enough or as much detail as you have.
First things first, what kind of RPer are you?
- Beginner: A beginning Role Player puts little effort into posting, having at least 5 sentences or more to start them off, roughly doing only a paragraph of work. This is if you want to have a straight to the point story, with a little detail, but nothing too extreme.
- Advanced: Advanced Role Players put time into their work, and they usually post no less than two detailed paragraphs. There is a good amount of detail, and they're looking to do a well thought out story with another player. Straight to the point, but with plenty of detail.
- Master: To be considered a Master Role Player should be everyone's goal, but it is not required. A Master RPer puts plenty of time and dedication into their posts, with tons of detail, and with plenty of paragraphs. A MRPer does at LEAST 5 paragraphs, and can open their horizons to as many as 15 paragraphs. Anyone who is looking for a huge, detailed, prolonged story will post the paragraphs to prove it. An example of a "Master Post" can be viewed here.

Starting Your Thread
When starting your journey with your first post, you want to make sure people know a few key important things.
- You want to try and put as much detail as your capable of, and a way to begin your story if you are having trouble is to just tell us what you're wearing, and where you are! Everyone will obviously know that if you post in Route 18, you're on Route 18. But, Route 18 is a long path, where exactly on it are you? A few good questions to ask yourself, are why are you there? What are you wearing? Are your Pokemon in their PokeBalls or are they out? What Pokemon DO you have on you? Are you winded or tired? Are you sad, happy, mad, discouraged? What town are you adventuring to, where are you going? There are tons of questions just waiting to be answered, and the more questions you ask yourself, the more detail you can portray in you posts. Just switch places with yourself and the person to potentially reply to your post, what questions would they want answered? What questions would YOU want answered when looking to reply to someone else's post?
- Another thing to keep in mind is are you looking for a battle, or to just role play normally? Also, posts can often start out as just a regular story, but a battle may commence if the parties role playing desire and agree to. If you are looking to battle someone, type in something along the lines of: He took out his Pokeball and held it within his hand, it containing his loyal, and strong Pokemon, Houndour. He was looking for a fight, someone who would be a good match against him, and a battle that Houndour could walk away proud from. Just an example. If you are not looking to battle, then just simply leave those details out. If you ever suddenly feel like battling, let the person your role playing with know by typing something along the lines of the example above.
